Erik ten Hag Set to Take Over at Bayer Leverkusen
According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Erik ten Hag will be appointed as the new head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, replacing Xabi Alonso at the helm of the Bundesliga runners-up.
"Erik ten Hag will become new Bayer Leverkusen head coach, story confirmed," Romano reported. "Agreement done on two year deal until June 2027 to be signed on Monday".
The Dutch manager has been out of work since his departure from Manchester United in October 2024, following a mixed spell at Old Trafford. Prior to that, he enjoyed a successful tenure at Ajax, where he led the Amsterdam club to multiple Eredivisie titles and a memorable run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
Ten Hag’s coaching résumé also includes stints at FC Utrecht, Bayern Munich II, and Go Ahead Eagles. Now, he faces a fresh challenge in Germany as he inherits a Leverkusen side that finished second in the Bundesliga and will compete in next season’s Champions League.
