Holstein - Freiburg 1:2

SC Freiburg kept their Champions League dream alive with a crucial 2-1 away win over Holstein Kiel, a result that also confirmed the hosts' relegation to the 2. Bundesliga.

It was a night of contrasting emotions as Freiburg celebrated a vital three points in their pursuit of a top-four finish, while newly promoted Holstein Kiel saw their Bundesliga adventure come to an end after just one season in the top flight.

The victory puts Freiburg four points clear of Borussia Dortmund, who now face a must-win scenario. Should Dortmund fail to beat league leaders Bayer Leverkusen on the road tomorrow, Freiburg will officially secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.
