For the first time in over three decades, Paris will have two clubs in Ligue 1. Paris FC secured promotion to the top tier of French football after a 1–1 draw with Martigues in Matchweek 33 of Ligue 2, earning the decisive point to reach 66 and guarantee a top-two finish.

Owned by French billionaire Bernard Arnault — one of the wealthiest individuals in the world — and backed by Red Bull, Paris FC are positioning themselves as serious challengers to Paris Saint-Germain's dominance in the capital. The club has already confirmed it will move its home games next season from the modest Stade Charléty to the more modern Stade Jean-Bouin, located directly across the road from PSG's iconic Parc des Princes.

This marks the first time since 1990 — when Racing Club de Paris last featured in Ligue 1 — that the French capital will host two top-flight sides. The move sets the stage for an all-Paris derby and injects fresh narrative into the 2024–25 campaign.
