Bayern Munich Overcomes Freiburg Despite Losing Goretzka
Bayern Munich extended their winning streak in the Bundesliga to five matches with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Freiburg. However, the win came at a cost, as midfielder Leon Goretzka suffered an injury in the first half and was forced to leave the pitch.
The scoring was opened by Harry Kane, who netted his 17th goal of the season in the 15th minute. The English striker’s powerful shot somehow slipped through the hands of Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, giving Bayern an early lead.
Bayern doubled their advantage through Min-jae Kim, who headed home a precise cross from Joshua Kimmich at the near post. The hosts protested, claiming Kim had fouled the goalkeeper, but the goal stood.
Freiburg pulled one back through Matthias Ginter, who scored from a corner kick, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a result. Despite their efforts, the home side couldn’t find an equalizer.
The major downside for Bayern was the loss of Leon Goretzka, who had only recently regained his place in the starting lineup.
