Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga with a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Mainz. Joshua Kimmich opened the scoring with a superb long-range strike, before teenage talent Lennart Karl doubled the visitors' advantage after the break, netting his first goal of the 2026/27 season.

Mainz managed to find the net twice during the contest, but their first effort was ruled out by the referee. Their second goal arrived deep into stoppage time, leaving the hosts with too little time to mount a comeback.
