La Liga Match Abandoned After Fans Protest Against Rayo Vallecano President

The La Liga clash between Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Club was abandoned following protests by home supporters that repeatedly disrupted the game.
Rayo Vallecano fans threw paper aeroplanes and rubber balls onto the pitch to protest against club president Raul Martin Presa. Supporters also displayed a banner bearing the message: “Presa, the ball is in your court”, making their dissatisfaction with the club's leadership clear.
Referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez initially stopped the match to address the disruption. However, after further incidents, he sent both teams back to the dressing rooms in the 25th minute. The score was 0-0 when play was suspended.
The game eventually resumed, but the reprieve proved temporary. Following the first half, the referee decided to abandon the match after receiving a recommendation from the police, bringing the La Liga encounter to an abrupt end.
