George Russell claimed victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 26, converting pole position into a commanding lights-to-flag win on the streets of Baku. The Mercedes driver controlled the race despite two restarts and held his nerve to take the chequered flag first.

Max Verstappen produced one of the standout drives of the afternoon. Starting from eighth on the grid, the Red Bull driver carved his way through the field and emerged as Russell's main challenger for victory. Verstappen pushed the race leader all the way to the finish, crossing the line just two-tenths of a second behind the Mercedes.

Completing the podium was Verstappen's Red Bull team-mate Isack Hadjar, who made a remarkable return after missing the previous three races with a wrist injury. His third-place finish provided a spectacular comeback on one of Formula 1's most demanding street circuits.

There was also a major recovery drive from championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The Mercedes driver started down in 16th position but produced a superb charge through the field to finish fifth, gaining 11 places by the chequered flag.
