three of the four major awards going to members of the newly crowned world champions

Spain not only lifted the FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy but also dominated the tournament's individual honours, with three of the four major awards going to members of the newly crowned world champions.

Rodri was named the Best Player of the tournament after captaining Spain to World Cup glory. The influential midfielder once again proved why he is regarded as one of the game's finest performers, adding another prestigious accolade to his collection after winning the Ballon d'Or in 2024.

The Best Young Player award went to Pau Cubarsi. The Barcelona centre-back enjoyed a breakthrough tournament, producing a series of composed and mature performances that underlined his status as one of world football's brightest defensive talents.

Meanwhile, Unai Simon was recognised as the tournament's Best Goalkeeper. The Spanish shot-stopper played a crucial role throughout FIFA World Cup 2026, delivering several decisive saves on the road to his nation's second world title.

The only major individual awards to escape Spain came in the tournament's statistical categories. Kylian Mbappe finished as the competition's top scorer after netting 10 goals for France, while his international teammate Michael Olise claimed the award for most assists with seven — a new all-time record in FIFA World Cup history.
