Neymar Confirms Retirement from Brazil National Team

Following Brazil's stunning Round of 16 defeat to Norway at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Neymar has officially announced his retirement from international football.
The 34-year-old forward, speaking through tears in an interview with Globo, confirmed that the 2026 World Cup was his final appearance for the Brazil national team.
"I tried, I really tried. Now it's over. I started here, and I finished here," an emotional Neymar said.
The Brazilian star was referring to MetLife Stadium, the venue where he made his senior debut for Brazil against the United States in 2010 and, fittingly, where he played the final match of his international career.
Neymar leaves the Brazil national team as the country's all-time leading goalscorer with 80 international goals. Despite a remarkable career in the famous yellow shirt, he was never able to lift the FIFA World Cup trophy, bringing an unforgettable chapter in Brazilian football history to a bittersweet close.
