Deep into stoppage time, Sweden launched one final assault, and Alexander Isak looked certain to snatch a dramatic winner with a well-placed header. But Suzuki produced a stunning fingertip save to push the ball onto the crossbar and preserve a crucial point.

The draw sees Japan finish second in Group F with five points behind Netherlands, setting up a blockbuster knockout clash against Brazil in Houston on Monday. Sweden, meanwhile, also progress after collecting four points, securing their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout rounds as one of the advancing third-placed teams.
