Barcelona have made the first blockbuster move of the summer transfer window, officially confirming the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

The deal was completed at remarkable speed, with the 25-year-old winger quickly reaching an agreement with the Spanish champions. Gordon has already passed his medical and signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until June 2031.

According to reports, the transfer is worth more than €70 million, while an additional €10 million could be paid in performance-related bonuses, making it one of the most significant deals of the summer market.

Anthony Gordon arrives in Catalonia after an outstanding campaign with Newcastle United. The England international finished as the club’s leading scorer and ranked among the Premier League’s most effective dribblers. His performances in the UEFA Champions League, particularly against Barcelona, reportedly convinced the club’s sporting department that he was the ideal addition to strengthen the attacking unit.

Anthony Gordon is expected to officially join his new teammates after the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he will represent England on football’s biggest stage.
