Arsenal finally brought the Premier League trophy back to North London after ending a 22-year title drought by winning the 2025/26 campaign. The triumph marked the Gunners’ 14th top-flight crown and cemented their return among England’s elite.

Despite Arsenal’s latest success, two clubs remain tied at the summit of English football history. Both Manchester United and Liverpool have lifted the English league title 20 times — more than any other side.

The dominance of Manchester United largely came during the modern Premier League era under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The Red Devils captured 13 league titles in the Premier League period alone, although their last championship arrived back in the 2012/13 season.

Manchester City, meanwhile, rewrote English football history by becoming the first club ever to win four consecutive Premier League titles. Pep Guardiola’s side established one of the most dominant dynasties the English game has ever seen.

In total, 24 different clubs have been crowned champions of England since the league’s foundation in 1888.
