Newcastle United - PSV Eindhoven 3:0

Newcastle United delivered a commanding 3–0 victory over PSV Eindhoven at St James’ Park, producing one of their most assured performances of the UEFA Champions League campaign. However, the emphatic scoreline was overshadowed by a worrying injury to club captain Bruno Guimaraes.

The hosts ruthlessly punished a series of costly mistakes from the Dutch side. Inside the opening minutes, Yoane Wissa capitalised on a poor clearance from the visiting goalkeeper, calmly opening the scoring and setting the tone for the night. Newcastle pressed aggressively and refused to let PSV settle.

Before half-time, the lead was doubled. A misplaced pass in defence gifted possession to Anthony Gordon, who showed composure and sharpness to finish clinically and leave PSV Eindhoven reeling.

The final word came midway through the second half. Once again, defensive hesitation proved fatal for the visitors as Harvey Barnes raced through on goal and coolly converted a one-on-one opportunity, sealing a dominant European night for Eddie Howe’s side.

Yet amid the celebrations, concern swept through the stadium late in the first half. Captain Bruno Guimaraes was forced off with an ankle injury, leaving the pitch visibly in pain. The Brazilian midfielder is now a major doubt for Newcastle United’s crucial Champions League fixture next week.
