Barcelona’s impressive nine-match winning run came to an abrupt end at the Reale Arena, as Real Sociedad claimed a dramatic 2–1 victory in La Liga. Hansi Flick’s side dominated large spells of the match in San Sebastián, but football once again proved cruel to the Catalan giants.

Luck deserted Barcelona at every turn. The visitors struck the woodwork four times, saw goals ruled out, and suffered from razor-thin offside decisions involving teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. Even a goal from Marcus Rashford failed to spark a comeback, as missed chances piled up and frustration grew.
