The Italian shot-stopper enjoyed a remarkable year

Gianluigi Donnarumma has been crowned the FIFA Best Goalkeeper 2025, securing the prestigious honour for the first time in his career.

The Italian shot-stopper enjoyed a remarkable year, collecting trophies across four different competitions with his former club Paris Saint-Germain. The standout moment came on 31 May 2025, when Donnarumma produced a flawless performance in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter, keeping a clean sheet in a stunning 5–0 victory.

At just 26 years old, Donnarumma also dominated domestically in France, lifting three major titles — Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions. His consistency between the posts was further underlined as he featured in the PSG squad that finished runners-up at the FIFA Club World Cup.

In the final voting, the Italy international edged out an exceptional shortlist of goalkeeping royalty, finishing ahead of Alisson Becker, Thibaut Courtois, Emiliano Martínez, Manuel Neuer, David Raya, Yann Sommer and Wojciech Szczęsny.
