Xabi Alonso

The honeymoon period between Real Madrid and Xabi Alonso appears to be over, with the club reportedly exploring possible alternatives to the manager they so eagerly pursued just months ago.

According to El Nacional, the club’s hierarchy is growing concerned over recent results — including the Champions League defeat to Liverpool and a La Liga draw with Rayo Vallecano. Sources suggest the board fears Alonso is struggling to maintain control of the dressing room and could face dismissal before the end of the season. However, the club insists it would only act if a top-tier replacement were available.

That replacement, according to the same report, could be Jürgen Klopp. The legendary German coach, currently serving as Global Head of Football for the Red Bull group, has previously stated that he is content in his new role and not planning an immediate return to management after the emotional toll of his years at Liverpool. Still, Florentino Pérez is known for his persuasive powers — and may yet find the right argument to tempt Klopp back to the dugout.
