Sevilla - RCD Mallorca 1:3

The first major upset of Matchday 9 in La Liga has arrived — and few saw it coming. Seventh-placed Sevilla FC were expected to cruise past struggling RCD Mallorca, who sat second from bottom before kick-off.

It all began according to the script, as Brian Rodríguez Vargas gave the hosts an early lead in the 16th minute. But the second half turned the match on its head.

Vedat Muriqi brought the visitors level in the 67th minute, sparking life into the underdogs. Moments later, Iñaki Joseph stunned the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán faithful with a rapid brace in just five minutes, completing a remarkable turnaround and sealing a shock 3-1 victory for the islanders.

The win lifts Mallorca out of the relegation zone and into 16th place, while Sevilla remain seventh — but with serious questions to answer after a collapse few could have predicted.
