Mbappé Withdraws from France Squad Following Injury
Kylian Mbappé has officially left the France national team camp after sustaining a knock during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan. The Real Madrid forward was forced off late in the game and has since returned to the Spanish capital to begin his recovery.
The 25-year-old captain opened the scoring in France’s 3–0 win on Friday but was visibly limping before being replaced by Florian Thauvin in the 83rd minute. Initial assessments suggest the injury is not serious, but the medical team opted for precaution, ruling him out of France’s upcoming qualifier.
Mbappé will miss the October 13 clash against Iceland in Reykjavík — a key fixture in Group D, where France, Iceland, and Ukraine are battling for qualification to the 2026 World Cup.
According to early reports from within Real Madrid, there is cautious optimism that Mbappé could return to action in time for the upcoming La Liga match against Getafe on October 19.
