Algeria Secure Spot at FIFA World Cup 2026

Algeria are heading back to the biggest stage in world football — the FIFA World Cup 2026 — after a commanding 3-0 victory over Somalia, a result that marks their triumphant return after missing out on the last two editions.
The night belonged to none other than Riyad Mahrez. The Al-Ahli winger and former Manchester City star was in inspired form, scoring once and assisting twice in a performance that reminded fans why he remains one of Africa's premier talents.
Originally scheduled to take place in Somalia, the match was relocated to the coastal city of Oran due to logistical concerns. That change did little to hinder the Desert Foxes, who seized control from the opening whistle and never looked back.
This marks Algeria’s fifth appearance at a World Cup finals — their first since 2014.
