The ball is named Trionda - representing the three host nations

FIFA and adidas have officially revealed the new match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The ball is named Trionda, a fusion of “tri” — representing the three host nations — and “onda,” meaning “wave” in Spanish and Portuguese, symbolizing the flow and rhythm of the beautiful game.

The unveiling took place in Las Vegas, with the design of the Trionda capturing the spirit of unity among the co-hosts. The ball features a clean white base, accented with dynamic panels in red (Canada), green (Mexico), and blue (USA), reflecting the national identities of the host countries. Intricate patterns inspired by local cultures and gold detailing — a nod to the iconic World Cup trophy — make this ball stand out both on and off the pitch.

Technically, the Trionda is cutting-edge. Built with a four-panel structure — similar to the much-loved Brazuca from the 2014 World Cup — the ball is adorned with embossed icons and micro-textures designed to enhance grip, stability, and flight precision.

Inside, the ball features an advanced sensor chip system that transmits real-time data to support VAR decisions, particularly for offside and handball calls. As in Qatar 2022, the chip works without central suspension, ensuring accurate tracking while maintaining ball integrity.
