FIFA has officially released the full schedule for the newly revamped Intercontinental Cup, a tournament reintroduced last year as part of the transition towards the expanded FIFA Club World Cup format.

The action kicks off on September 14 in Cairo, where Egyptian side Pyramids FC will host Auckland City of New Zealand in the tournament opener. The winner of this clash will travel to Jeddah to face Saudi giants Al-Ahli just nine days later.

The victor of that encounter will lift a special intercontinental trophy representing the regions of Asia, Africa, and Oceania, and advance to the next stage. There, they’ll meet the winner of the much-anticipated “Americas Derby” — a clash between Mexican club Cruz Azul and the yet-to-be-determined Copa Libertadores champion.

On December 13, the champion of the Asia/Africa/Oceania region will face off against the winner of the Americas Derby, with the winner securing a place in the final.

Then comes the big one. On December 17, the Intercontinental Cup final will see the last team standing challenge European powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The venue for the final is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
