The injury comes at a critical moment as Italy prepare for crucial fixtures

Italy and Atalanta striker Gianluca Scamacca has been sidelined once again, this time due to inflammation in his left knee, casting doubt over his availability for upcoming fixtures with both club and country.

The 25-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Italy national team training camp on Thursday after experiencing discomfort that prevented him from taking part in sessions with the Squadra Azzurra.

Following a medical examination, team doctors diagnosed Scamacca with an inflammatory condition in the left knee, reportedly caused by joint overload. The injury comes at a critical moment as Italy prepare for crucial fixtures in their UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

While the extent of the damage has yet to be fully assessed, early indications suggest that Scamacca will miss at least the next Serie A matchday. Atalanta are expected to provide further updates in the coming days.
