Georgiy Sudakov Joins Benfica in €27m+ Deal - Romano Confirms
Portuguese giants Benfica have sealed the signing of highly-rated Ukrainian midfielder Georgiy Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk, as confirmed by renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
The deal, worth an initial €27 million plus €5 million in performance-related add-ons, was finalized immediately after Shakhtar's UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier against Servette. In addition, Shakhtar have secured over 20% of the profit from any future transfer involving Sudakov – a smart clause that could pay dividends down the line.
"Georgiy Sudakov joins Benfica. Deal done," Romano wrote on social media. "Agreed between Rui Pedro Braz and Dario Srna: €27m plus €5m in add-ons, and more than 20% sell-on clause for Shakhtar."
The 22-year-old will wear the iconic No.10 shirt for Benfica, signaling the high expectations surrounding his arrival in Lisbon.
Who is Georgiy Sudakov?
A product of Shakhtar Donetsk’s famed academy, Sudakov has been one of the standout talents in Ukrainian football over the past few seasons. He made 146 appearances for the "Orange-and-Blacks", scoring 33 goals and providing 19 assists across all competitions.
Sudakov will now link up with his former Shakhtar teammate, goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin, who also made the move to Benfica earlier.
