Mourinho Targets Lunin and Zinchenko to Join Fenerbahçe
Fenerbahçe boss José Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a double Ukrainian swoop as he builds his new-look squad for the upcoming Turkish Süper Lig campaign. With Oleksandr Zinchenko already heavily linked to a move from Arsenal, Mourinho now wants Andriy Lunin to join him in Istanbul.
The Special One is believed to have already convinced Zinchenko to consider the switch, and now his focus has shifted to strengthening the goalkeeper position — with Lunin his top priority. According to Spanish outlet Realmadridexclusivo, Mourinho has offered the Real Madrid keeper a guaranteed starting role at Fenerbahçe.
Real Madrid Caught Off Guard by Lunin Interest
While Lunin has served as a reliable deputy to Thibaut Courtois in Madrid, the prospect of becoming a first-choice goalkeeper under Mourinho could prove too tempting to ignore. The news, however, is unlikely to please Real Madrid management, who see the 25-year-old as a vital squad member and ideal backup for the often-injured Belgian.
If Lunin were to leave, Madrid would be left scrambling for a replacement — or may be forced to promote the highly rated but unproven Fran González into a senior role ahead of schedule.
