Leipzig Reject Newcastle Bid for Šeško - Man United Now in Pole Position
The transfer saga surrounding Benjamin Šeško is heating up as RB Leipzig reportedly turned down a substantial offer from Newcastle United, with eyes now firmly set on a potential bid from Manchester United.
According to sources in the English press, the Bundesliga side rejected Newcastle’s proposal, believed to be worth around €80 million in total. However, Leipzig were dissatisfied with the proposed payment structure, the bonuses involved, and the sell-on clause terms.
This rejection has opened the door for Manchester United to step in. Leipzig are now hoping the Red Devils table a counter-offer, potentially sparking a bidding war between two Premier League giants.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Sunday, writing: “Benjamin Šeško’s agent, arrived in Leipzig ahead of key moment for final decision over new club. Manchester United told RB Leipzig again on Saturday: an official bid will follow after Newcastle’s one… if Šeško opens doors to the move.”
The highly-rated Slovenian striker has been with RB Leipzig since July 2023, having made an instant impact. He’s already netted 39 goals and provided 8 assists in 87 appearances for the club.
