Alexander Isak Still Keen on Liverpool Move Despite Newcastle Rejection
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided fresh insight into the ongoing saga between Liverpool and Newcastle United over the potential transfer of star striker Alexander Isak.
As previously reported, Newcastle turned down Liverpool’s opening offer of £120 million plus bonuses for the Swedish international. The Magpies remain firm in their stance — for now.
“Liverpool have never left talks for Alexander Isak… and new bid can be submitted, if Newcastle open doors,” Romano revealed on X. “It all depends (again) on #NUFC decision and position: if Newcastle get top striker, Liverpool will try again for Isak”
Isak, who has made it clear he wants to join the Merseyside giants, is still under contract with Newcastle until 2028. The 24-year-old joined from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a reported fee of €70 million.
Since arriving in the Premier League, Isak has become a key figure at St James' Park, scoring 62 goals and providing 11 assists in just 109 appearances.
