Trubin Keeps Clean Sheet as Benfica Clinch Portuguese Super Cup Over Sporting
Anatoliy Trubin started between the posts for Benfica and played a key role in helping his team win the Portuguese Super Cup, keeping a clean sheet in a tight 1-0 victory over bitter rivals Sporting CP.
The match, played with all the intensity of a derby, was decided by a moment of opportunism from new signing Vangelis Pavlidis. The Greek forward struck in the 50th minute, reacting quickest to a rebound and firing low past the Sporting goalkeeper to seal the win for the Eagles.
The win marks Benfica’s 10th Portuguese Super Cup title, adding yet another piece of silverware to their illustrious trophy cabinet.
