The 35-year-old Gabon international enjoyed a standout 2023/24 campaign with Marseille

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back in Marseille. The former Arsenal striker received a hero’s welcome upon arrival, as fans gathered to greet him ahead of completing his return to Olympique de Marseille on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old Gabon international enjoyed a standout 2023/24 campaign with Marseille, scoring 30 goals and providing 11 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions. He left the French side last summer to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah on a two-year deal, but is now making a swift return to France after just one season in the Middle East.

While in Saudi Arabia, Aubameyang remained in strong form, netting 21 goals in 36 matches. However, the lure of European football — and a reunion with the Velodrome faithful — proved too strong to resist.

He will now rejoin Marseille's attack, where his experience is expected to complement young English forward Mason Greenwood, who recently arrived on loan from Manchester United.
