Schira reports that negotiations between the two clubs are at an advanced stage

Xavi Simons is edging closer to a blockbuster move to Chelsea, according to Italian transfer expert Nicolò Schira. The talented Dutch midfielder appears set to leave RB Leipzig just months after joining them permanently from Paris Saint-Germain.

Schira reports that negotiations between the two clubs are at an advanced stage and that Chelsea are “confident” the deal will be finalized soon. The expected transfer fee is around €70 million.

Xavi Simons, 22, initially joined RB Leipzig on loan from PSG in 2023 and impressed enough for the Bundesliga side to trigger a €50 million permanent deal in January 2025. However, with Chelsea aggressively rebuilding their midfield, the Blues have moved swiftly to secure one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.

Simons enjoyed a standout campaign in the Bundesliga last season, registering 10 goals and 7 assists in just 25 appearances.
