It’s finally done

It’s finally done. After weeks of negotiations, tension, and stand-offs, Viktor Gyökeres has officially signed with Arsenal, bringing an end to one of this summer’s most drawn-out transfer sagas.

The Swedish striker arrives in North London from Sporting CP in a deal worth up to €80 million, including performance-related bonuses. The 27-year-old had been pushing for the move, even missing 14 days of preseason training to force through the transfer — and now, he’s finally got his wish.

Despite the drama, Sporting bid a respectful farewell to their former star. “One of the best in our history,” the Lisbon club wrote on social media, thanking Gyökeres for his contribution during his time in Portugal.
