Manchester City Eye Anatoliy Trubin as Summer Goalkeeper Solution
Pep Guardiola appears to have made his decision on who should be the long-term successor between the sticks at the Etihad. According to Portuguese outlet Loucos Pelo Benfica, Manchester City are targeting a summer move for Benfica's standout shot-stopper Anatoliy Trubin.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian has caught the attention of top European clubs following his outstanding performances at the FIFA Club World Cup, where his reflexes, maturity, and composure under pressure elevated him into the elite bracket of young goalkeepers.
City are reportedly ready to offer up to €55 million for Trubin — but there’s another twist. To smooth negotiations with Benfica, the English champions are open to including Ederson in a swap deal. The Brazilian, once one of Guardiola's most trusted men, has fallen out of favour in Manchester and could be set for a return to Portugal, where his career took flight.
Benfica are said to value Ederson at around €10 million, significantly less than City once paid for him. Should the swap materialise, the final fee would be adjusted accordingly. For Benfica, Ederson’s experience and name value still represent a considerable gain — and for City, it could be a clean transition toward a younger, high-ceiling option in goal.
