Uruguayan striker has given the “green light” for the move

Another major transfer shock is brewing this summer, as reports from Italy claim that Darwin Núñez has agreed to leave Liverpool and sign for Napoli ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The reigning Serie A champions have already made headlines by securing Kevin De Bruyne and Italian prospect Luca Marianucci, but have yet to reinforce their frontline — until now. Núñez has emerged as their top attacking target, with Italian media and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Uruguayan striker has given the “green light” for the move.

The expected transfer fee is believed to be in the region of €50 million, a significant drop from the €85 million Liverpool paid to sign him from Benfica in the summer of 2022.

Núñez, now 25, has struggled to fully establish himself at Anfield, often showing flashes of brilliance but never cementing a consistent starting role. In the 2024/25 campaign, he scored 7 goals and provided 7 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
