€75M Price Tag for Illya Zabarnyi – and It’s No Joke
Paris Saint-Germain, fresh off their historic UEFA Champions League triumph, are not backing down in their pursuit of Illya Zabarnyi, the highly-rated Ukrainian international and defensive stalwart for AFC Bournemouth. According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, PSG remain keen on landing the 21-year-old centre-back this summer.
However, their initial offer of €50 million was swiftly rejected by the Premier League side. Bournemouth, who view Zabarnyi as a key figure in their impressive 2024 campaign, have made it clear: it will take at least €75 million to even begin negotiations. Previous reports had suggested that the Cherries would start talks only from €70 million and up.
Record-Breaking Deal on the Horizon?
If PSG agrees to Bournemouth's valuation, the transfer would make Illya Zabarnyi the most expensive Ukrainian footballer in history—surpassing Mykhailo Mudryk’s €70 million move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Chelsea in January 2023.
The French champions are said to have taken a brief pause to assess the financial demands of the deal. With Zabarnyi under long-term contract and continuing to develop into one of Europe’s most promising defenders, Bournemouth are in no rush to sell unless the offer matches their expectations.
