Argentina continued their dominance in the South American qualifiers

Argentina, already qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026, continued their dominance in the South American qualifiers with a 1–0 win away to Chile.

The reigning world champions sealed all three points thanks to a clinical finish from Julian Alvarez, who capitalized on a perfectly timed through ball in the 16th minute to score the only goal of the match.

The game also saw a significant moment in Argentina’s football history as 17-year-old Franco Mastantuono made his senior debut, becoming the third-youngest player to ever appear for the national team. Only Jorge Cecchi in 1980 and the legendary Diego Maradona in 1977 debuted at a younger age — Maradona was just 16 years and 120 days old.

Chile 0–1 Argentina
