Serie A 2025/26 to Kick Off on August 24
Serie A has officially confirmed the dates for the upcoming 2025/26 season, which will begin on August 24, 2025, and conclude on May 24, 2026. The announcement was made by the Lega Serie A on Thursday.
In a continuation of recent seasons, there will be no winter break in Italy. Matchdays are scheduled for December 21 and 28, as well as January 3 and 6, ensuring a packed festive football calendar for Italian football fans.
The league will pause only during the four official FIFA international windows — in September, October, November, and March. Additionally, two of the 38 matchdays — Round 9 and Round 19 — will be held midweek.
City Rivals to Alternate Home Fixtures
To address security and logistical concerns, Serie A has introduced a fixture mechanism to ensure that city rivals — Inter vs AC Milan, Lazio vs Roma, Juventus vs Torino, and Fiorentina vs Pisa — alternate home and away matches throughout the season.
However, the league clarified that exceptions may be made, particularly for Inter and AC Milan due to the temporary unavailability of the San Siro Stadium. The venue will host the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics on February 6, taking place in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
