NHL Playoffs: Edmonton Win Western Conference, Set Up Stanley Cup Final vs Florida

The Edmonton Oilers have punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final, claiming the Western Conference title after a commanding 6–3 road win over the Dallas Stars in Game 5.

Superstar captain Connor McDavid led the charge once again, notching a goal and an assist. That assist marked a major milestone: McDavid now has 100 playoff assists, becoming the second-fastest player in NHL history to reach the century mark. It took him just 90 games — trailing only the legendary Wayne Gretzky, who accomplished the feat in a mind-blowing 70 games.

Meanwhile, veteran winger Corey Perry etched his name into the history books with his seventh goal of the postseason — the most ever scored in a single playoff run by a player aged 39 or older. Perry, who turned 40 on May 16, now stands above greats like Teemu Selanne (2011), Mark Recchi (2010), Ron Francis (2002), and Jean Béliveau (1971).

For the second straight year, the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers will meet in the Stanley Cup Final — setting the stage for a blockbuster rematch. Last season’s clash saw Edmonton rally from a 0–3 series deficit, only to fall heartbreakingly short in Game 7, losing 2–1.
