Napoli Reach Verbal Agreement with Jonathan David
Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Napoli have reached a verbal agreement with Canadian international Jonathan David, as the Serie A giants look to bolster their attack ahead of the upcoming Champions League campaign.
The 24-year-old forward, who previously played for Lille (not Lyon, as earlier stated), is now a free agent after his contract with the French club expired. David has long been linked with a move to Italy, and it appears the reigning Serie A champions are close to sealing the deal.
Napoli have been actively reshaping their frontline. After selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the winter window, the club is also expected to part ways with Victor Osimhen this summer. That makes the acquisition of a proven goalscorer like Jonathan David a critical move as they prepare for a return to the UEFA Champions League.
Even more sensationally, reports suggest that Kevin De Bruyne could be the next big-name arrival at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The Belgian playmaker is also a free agent and is believed to be seriously considering the Napoli project.
Meanwhile, despite earlier speculation, there has been no recent contact from Napoli regarding Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov. For now, all eyes remain on the finalization of the David and De Bruyne deals.
