Marino Pušić Departs Shakhtar Donetsk as Club Waits for Arda Turan
Shakhtar Donetsk have officially announced the departure of head coach Marino Pušić and his entire coaching staff.
Pušić took the reins of the Miners on October 23, 2023, and led the team through 71 official matches, registering 44 wins, 13 draws, and 14 defeats, with a goal difference of 139–71. Under his leadership, Shakhtar secured a domestic double in the 2023/24 season and lifted a record-extending 15th Ukrainian Cup title in the 2024/25 campaign — the most in the nation’s football history.
“We thank Marino Pušić and his assistants for their dedication, professionalism, courage, and resilience,” the club stated. “Your names and achievements will forever remain in Shakhtar's history. We are especially grateful for your support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. We wish you success and great victories in your future career.”
Who’s Next for Shakhtar?
According to multiple reports, former Turkey national team star and ex-FC Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan is expected to be named Shakhtar’s new head coach. Turan impressed in charge of Eyüpspor during the 2025/26 season and is now set for the biggest managerial challenge of his career.
