High drama in the Western Conference Finals

High drama in the Western Conference Finals — and heartbreak for the Edmonton Oilers. Leading 3–1 on the road and seemingly in control, Edmonton collapsed in stunning fashion as the Dallas Stars roared back with five unanswered goals in the third period to take Game 1, 6–3.

It was a special teams masterclass from Dallas. The Stars capitalized on Edmonton’s undisciplined play, scoring three power-play goals in the final frame to completely flip the script. What looked like a confident Oilers win turned into a rout in just 20 minutes.

Goaltending proved pivotal. While Dallas seized momentum, Edmonton netminder Stuart Skinner faltered between the pipes — struggling to contain the onslaught and offering little resistance when it mattered most.

Tyler Seguin was the hero for Dallas, notching two goals and an assist in a vintage postseason performance. For the Oilers, Leon Draisaitl continued to produce, contributing a goal and two assists, but his efforts were not enough to stop the Stars’ late surge.
