Ángel Di María

Ángel Di María will not continue with Benfica next season, as the Portuguese club officially confirmed the Argentine’s departure following the conclusion of the Primeira Liga campaign.

The 37-year-old winger’s contract expires this summer and will not be renewed. His return to Lisbon comes to an end after a productive individual season, though Benfica missed out on the title — finishing two points behind champions Sporting CP.

Strong Impact in His Benfica Return

Di María rejoined Benfica in the summer of 2023, nearly 14 years after his first stint with the club that helped launch his European career.

While Benfica came up short in the title race, the veteran winger remained a consistent attacking presence and a leader on and off the pitch.

Trubin’s Future Still Unclear

Meanwhile, Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin is expected to stay at the club unless Benfica receive a significant offer in the summer transfer window. Trubin played a key role throughout the season and has attracted attention from several European sides.
