Ukraine’s top-ranked player Elina Svitolina booked her place in the semi-finals of the prestigious WTA 1000 Madrid Open with a commanding straight-sets victory over Moyuka Uchijima of Japan.

The former world No.3 dominated the quarter-final clash from the outset, dismantling her opponent 6-2, 6-1 in under an hour with a display of clinical, controlled aggression on clay.

Up next, Svitolina could face an all-Ukrainian showdown. Her semi-final opponent will be the winner of the highly anticipated clash between world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and rising Ukrainian star Marta Kostyuk.
