Fluminense quickly found a new head coach

Fluminense have confirmed the appointment of Renato Gaúcho as the club’s new head coach — marking his seventh spell in charge of the Rio de Janeiro giants.

The 62-year-old Brazilian tactician returns following the early-season dismissal of Mano Menezes. According to local media, Renato was the club’s second choice, with Argentine coach Gabriel Milito reportedly turning down the job due to family reasons.

Brazil - Serie A: Fixtures, Results & Standings

Renato Gaúcho’s most successful tenure at Fluminense came between 2007 and 2008, when he guided the team to the Copa do Brasil title and a runner-up finish in the Copa Libertadores.

Across all his previous stints with the club, Renato has overseen 202 matches, recording 86 wins, 52 draws, and 64 defeats. He now takes charge of a Fluminense side looking to climb the Brasileirão 2025 table after a disappointing start to the campaign.
