Girona ready to pay for one match

How much does it cost to play against Barcelona? For Girona, the price is exactly €300,000.

Midfielder Oriol Romeu, currently on loan from Barcelona, is technically not allowed to face his parent club due to a standard clause in the loan agreement — often referred to as a “fear clause.”

However, Girona have the option to override that restriction by paying a pre-agreed fee. In Romeu’s case, the clause is set at €300,000, and with key midfielders unavailable for the Catalan derby, manager Míchel has given the green light to pay up.

La Liga: Fixtures, Results & Standings

The decision underlines just how crucial Romeu is to Girona’s system — and how seriously they’re taking Saturday’s showdown at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
