Ecuador and Uruguay failed to win their 2026 World Cup qualifying matches today

Ecuador and Uruguay were both held to goalless draws in their away fixtures on the latest matchday of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ecuador played out a 0-0 stalemate with Chile, while Uruguay were unable to break through against Bolivia in a similarly cagey affair. Despite the lack of goals, both teams earned crucial points in the race to qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With the draw, Ecuador remain in second place in the CONMEBOL standings. Uruguay, meanwhile, moved up to third, edging ahead of Brazil on goal difference. Argentina, who secured their World Cup spot earlier this week, remain the only South American side to have officially qualified so far.
