Porto Wanted Sudakov but Ran Out of Time
This winter, Georgiy Sudakov had a chance to leave Shakhtar Donetsk, though not for one of the top leagues that many expected. Strong interest in the Ukrainian midfielder came from FC Porto, but timing was not on their side.
Porto was deep in negotiations with Manchester City over the sale of Nico González. While the deal eventually went through for a significant sum of €60 million, the process dragged on too long, leaving Porto with no time to finalize a move for Sudakov. As a result, Porto remains with a gap in midfield, and Sudakov will stay at Shakhtar — at least for now.
According to journalist Ihor Tsyhanyk, who shared the story on his show, Sudakov’s top transfer option remains Napoli. The Italian club is eager to secure the Ukrainian talent in the upcoming summer window.
