Hansi Flick Falls Just Short of Legendary Helenio Herrera's Record
Hansi Flick came agonizingly close to becoming the most prolific coach in FC Barcelona history in terms of goals scored at the start of his tenure.
According to statistical portal Opta, Flick is now the second fastest manager to reach the milestone of 100 goals with the Catalan giants. In their emphatic 7-1 victory over Valencia, Barça hit the century mark under Flick's leadership. It took the German tactician just 32 matches to achieve this feat.
However, he fell just short of the all-time record held by the legendary Argentine-Spanish coach Helenio Herrera. During the 1958/59 season, Herrera's Barcelona side reached 100 goals in only 31 matches. That campaign proved to be a title-winning one for the Blaugrana.
Despite missing out on the record by the narrowest of margins, Flick's attacking philosophy has already made a significant impact, with the team playing a free-flowing style of football reminiscent of the club’s golden eras.
