Football transfers

Viktor Gyökeres will not be leaving Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window, and Manchester United is reportedly not his top choice for a move, according to recent reports from the sports press.

It was previously speculated that United’s head coach Rúben Amorim, facing uncertainty over the futures of Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, had requested the club to bring in the Swedish striker this month. However, Sky Sports claims that Sporting has no plans to sell Gyökeres mid-season, expecting the forward to remain in Lisbon until the summer.

2024-25 Premier League Standings

While Manchester United is among the clubs interested in the 26-year-old, they are not the frontrunners. Other major players, including Manchester City and Barcelona, are also keeping tabs on Gyökeres, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich closely monitoring the situation.

The battle for Gyökeres is shaping up to be one of the key transfer sagas of the upcoming summer window, with Sporting standing firm on retaining their star striker for the remainder of the season.
