Botafogo won the Copa Libertadores trophy for the first time in their history. In the final match they defeated Atletico Mineiro, as Botafogo played with ten man for most of the game.

Botafogo became the 12th Brazilian winner of Copa Libertadores. Not only did it win the title, but also became the latest participant in the 2025 Club World Cup, that will be held next summer in the United States.
