Darijo Srna

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Sporting Director Darijo Srna spoke with Globo Esporte, reflecting on the performances of the club’s Brazilian players during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

"I have immense respect for these players who joined us despite the war over the past few years," said the Croatian football icon. "They had no prior experience of war, but they showed courage and proved that Shakhtar remains a great club."

Hope for Peace Through International Diplomacy

This week, Brazil is hosting a meeting of the G20, and Srna expressed hope that the summit could contribute to ending the war in Ukraine.

"This is an opportunity for the world’s most influential nations to discuss various issues, with the invasion of Ukraine undoubtedly among them. We hope that global leaders will find a way to finally bring peace to Ukraine. People have been dying for more than two and a half years, and this meeting could be pivotal in finding a solution," Srna emphasized.
