NHL: Florida Panthers win their first ever Stanley Cup
On the night of June 24-25, the seventh and final match of the Stanley Cup final series took place, in which the Florida Panthers played at home against the Edmonton Oilers.
Florida won the first three matches in the series, however then Edmonton made a sensational comeback and responded with three victories. As a result, the winner of the Stanley Cup was determined in the seventh game.
In the first period the teams exchanged goals - Carter Verhaeghe scored for Florida, and Mattias Janmark scored for Edmonton. The decisive goal in the match was scored by Panthers forward Sam Rinehart in the 15th minute of the second period.
Florida won the Stanley Cup for the first time in its history. This club was founded in 1993 and twice became the best in the Eastern Conference, but was never an NHL champion.
